Launched in 2006, Amazon Web Services (AWS) began exposing key infrastructure services to businesses in the form of web services -- now widely known as cloud computing. The ultimate benefit of cloud computing, and AWS, is the ability to leverage a new business model and turn capital infrastructure expenses into variable costs. Businesses no longer need to plan and procure servers and other IT resources weeks or months in advance. Using AWS, businesses can take advantage of Amazon's expertise and economies of scale to access resources when their business needs them, delivering results faster and at a lower cost.

Today, Amazon Web Services provides a highly reliable, scalable, low-cost infrastructure platform in the cloud that powers hundreds of thousands of businesses in 190 countries around the world. With data center locations in the U.S., Europe, Singapore, and Japan, customers across all industries are taking advantage of our low cost, elastic, open and flexible, secure platform.

Amazon glacier was one of the best archiving solution you can ask for but it has changed since the arrival of google nearline. it would been a far better review if i had done this last year because it was one of the best then and 4 hour respond time really killed the competition.

We are using S3 and glacier for most of our third party backups and third set backups. it is always easy to manage storage in all region and billing cant be any more transparent. Very easy to upload with even free software like S3 browser and dragondisk.

We currently use AWS for plan "C" backups and transfers. The price has been very reasonable and the dashboard has been easy to use. Customer support has been very helpful in resolving any issues we've come across. #spiceworks

Amazon Glacier was great. We were looking for a cloud long term storage for our database admin and he was able to find and incorporate this into snapshots of our VMs. The backup would go on over night and eventually get transferred over to the glacier services for long term storage. Which was fine for 2+ year old snapshots for what we needed. Which was strictly backup and not accessibility.

i was introduced to the world of AWS only 1 year ago. I was skeptical about the whole cloud server storage and backup storage etc. But amazon S3 gave me new perception on how powerful and painless it can be. You only have to pay for what you use and it is faster than any other solutions i have ever tried. Noe i am backing up some of my data with dragondisk software. #spiceworks

It is one of the best services we have for server back-end when you are using AWS EC2 or other services. We are using this for years and never had issues so far. IO rates are really good and we are also using elastic blocks for EC2. A great services from amazon, cant find any fault but the only downside is their interface is a bit bad comparing to azure or google cloud storage. they need to work on it. #spiceworks

Amazon S3 is one of the best business class storage service designed for business. I am using this for years and never had a problem and yet to find an issue. IF you have any servers or using other services from amazon, this is the storage you are looking for. I am running a lot servers in EC2 and using S3 as back-end storage. The pricing is more clarity than glacier and you can calculate how much are you going to spend. A great sulution for developers and sysadmins #spiceworks

S3 is the best storage solution out there for static hosting. Its easy to get up and running quickly and new customers get free storage and data transfer for a year . It worked like a charm for my previous project where I use it for storing random files for installations as well as for shared files. They have nice REST API and APIs on top of REST end points in different languages, you could use pretty much for anything.

The only feature I really dont like most is their web console. The S3 web console lacks simple feature like sorting or even searching. Amazon has had some high profile outages but these have mainly been around their EC2 products so no problem with S3 . #spiceworks.

before i moved my job, I used S3 supplement the online storage for our clients. As a startup the ability to host all of our cloud services without the need to manage our own IT infrastructure has been key to our ability to scale.
as a new user, first thing you will notice is the simplicity of it. there are no learning curve to pass and within free trial period , you can be master of this great service. So Make sure you try it with the free amazon level for a while and try some of the tools that work with it before you put a ton of files in there.#spiceworks.

I am using Amazon web service products for years and one of the best services they offer is Amazon Simple Storage Service (s3). I wasn’t really in to cloud at first but it appears s3 designs for business and it helps to build a strong backup and online archive system. I am using glacier as a part of this for life cycle transitioning and can’t find any better solution. I have tried and using google cloud storage but for backup purpose, I felt s3 is the best. I don’t really like glacier as it has no clarity in pricing but with s3, you know what you are getting into. #spicerworks

Currently i manage around 8 TB data in S3 and ~20TB data in glacier and i have to say i am pretty please with this. S3 response is faster than moving my NAS file in network. Glacier is not something i want to use for future as 3 - 4 hours response time is not good. may be replacing glacier with nearline. But so far , pretty happy with their service. #spiceworks

I am using AWS storage for years. I started using glacier and realized in need a lot more than that when i need to retrieve anything. Glacier is perfect for those who just need to archive everything , not retrieving chuck data. So i started using S3 and it is worth for $0.03/gb. The storage is really fast and i can download it faster than copying a file from my external NAS server. S3 pricing is pretty straight forward but beware using glacier when you need anything back from it, you could end up with hefty charges. #spiceworks

I'm loving Amazon S3. It's a huge help to be able to upload any type of document - PDF, Word, Excel, and even JPG's - and be able to link them on our site and in our emails.
The one thing I haven't figured out how to do on Amazon S3 yet (which is why I'm only giving it 4.5 stars) is easily moving files from one folder to another. It would be a big help in terms of organization to not have to delete it, reupload it and then relink it.
Hope this helps!
