If your company is looking into a new call center software solution, one of the names you may have heard of it’s a tiny little company out there called Amazon. And Amazon has a cloud call center software solution called Amazon Connect. And it’s really attractive to some companies. So I wanted to kind of take a minute to explain how their pricing works, and why some companies are really gravitating toward Amazon Connect for replacing their call center software.

Number one, first and foremost, there are no user license costs with Amazon Connect. So why that’s a big deal is most cloud call center software solutions are going to cost close to, or more than $100 dollars per month per user, just for the software. So imagine that’s eliminated, which is great, right? So how do they make money? Well, they charge you per minute. So they charge you for using the application. They charge you a permanent rate for using the application itself. They don’t charge you a monthly fixed fee. It’s all based on usage.

So they charge you for the usage when you’re actually on the phone or on the platform using it. So no monthly fixed user charges or license fees, that’s number one. Number two is the pricing is month to month, which is great. I mean, what’s really cool about that is you can scale up or down as your call center needs. And we all know a lot of call centers have big seasonalities. So in Christmas time, they shoot up, and some others shoot up in summertime, and different things like that. Well, if it’s all based on month to month pricing, you can imagine there’s going to be no penalties as you scale up and scale down with your call center.

So because of those two things alone, there’s a lot of people interested in Amazon Connect for replacing their call center software. It’s not the best thing for every single company, but it’s just a very interesting option. If you are interested in Amazon Connect, another thing to consider is using a third party to help customize the software to fit your needs. So if you just look into Amazon Connect by itself, it’s kind of hands-off, if you’re getting it directly from Amazon, it’s not quite ready to just be handing it out to retail customers, like some of the other call center software applications out there.

So the way to buy it is really to go through one of these third-party vendors who uses Amazon Connect as the platform to customize a perfect solution for your company. And they still offer the month to month pricing in the usage rates instead of a per month license fee. So you still get the pricing advantages, but you get a software that’s really ready for your company to use.
