All right, so your company is looking into SD-WAN and one of the things you’re contemplating is should we have the SD-WAN service provider also provide us with our firewall and security package?

One of the things you want to think about is: Do you want the service provider to give you a cloud-based security package or an on-prem based security package?

And one of the cool things I want to point out is if you’re company does a cloud-based security package, where all the security decision-making is done in the cloud, the cool thing about that is only the clean traffic is going to be sent down your Internet connections. So, it’s really going to free up more bandwidth than all of your sites if you use a cloud-based security package where all the decision making is done in the cloud.

However, there are different reasons why you might want all of your security and firewall on site.

So, depending on what you need, make sure you look into service providers who offer the type of security, either cloud or on-prem, that your company’s looking for.
