SD-WAN Vendors with IP Addresses from the Cloud

August 20, 2020 Mike Smith

Your company has multiple internet connections, from different ISP’s. But each ISP circuit has their own set of IP addresses.

Can an SD-WAN solution give your company static IP addresses, from the cloud?

Yes. No more needing to broadcast a different set of IP addresses from each different ISP circuit.

Yep, that means inbound internet traffic can be sent on any circuit!

In this short video, AeroCom President, Mike Smith explains how, by doing so, SD-WAN solutions can load-balance and optimize your organization’s internet traffic on multiple, diverse ISP circuits… for both outbound AND INBOUND internet traffic.

Your company is looking into SD-WAN.

Well, you’re not alone. A lot of companies are looking into SD-WAN these days. We talk to them every day.

One of the things you may have heard about is some SD-WAN vendors have the ability to do traffic shaping on not just outbound internet traffic, but also inbound internet traffic.

Well, how do they do that?

Well, one of the ways they do it is some of these vendors are what I call cloud enabled SD-WAN solutions, where they actually deploy an SD-WAN appliance at each one of your sites. And that SD-WAN appliance connects up to that service provider’s nearest cloud gateway. So now that there’s a gateway onsite and also one in the cloud, they can talk to each other. Those two gateways can. And so therefore they can affect both outbound and inbound internet traffic.

SD-WAN Vendors - IP Addresses from the Cloud

They also provide you with your static IP addresses from the SD-WAN network. So, so if you have multiple ISP connections from different ISPs, you know that those are different IP addresses with each one of those internet connections. So instead of using those, you broadcast the IP addresses of the SD-WAN service provider and by doing so, it allows you to dynamically allocate over multiple ISP connections and traffic shape at the same time over multiple different ISP connections.

Pretty cool stuff.

So then the question might be well, which one of these SD-WAN vendors is the best fit?

Which SD-WAN vendors offer things like that? Who’s the best fit?

If you have that question, don’t Google all day long on that stuff. Just give me a call (714-593-0011), or shoot me an email. I’m happy to help. This is what I do for a living. And guess what? We don’t charge you anything. The service providers pay our company our broker fee. So there’s absolutely no excuse not to give us a call. Why spend all your day trying to find this stuff out and end up with the wrong vendors anyway, instead of just calling me? So if you have any questions or you want to know which vendors are the best fit for your company, please reach out. I hope this video was helpful a little bit in explaining SD-WAN vendors and how they traffic shape and do prioritization over multiple ISP connections. And I hope you have a great day.
