Does every user need Teams Phone Standard?

So does every user in your company need the team’s phone standard? Add on? The answer to that is no, and I’ll tell you why.

1. Users who don’t need to make outbound calls to the outside world

If your company uses teams phone system and say you have somebody in the company that never needs to make an outbound call to the outside world, but once in a great moon, they somehow might need you to transfer a call to them. comes to the main desk. You need to transfer a call to them from the outside world and you just need to transfer it to them. You can do that for any team’s user, even if they don’t have teams phone standard. If they just have teams, you can transfer a call to that user that comes in to the main desk. So you don’t need to have team’s phone standard for that user. Now if they want to make a phone call to anybody within the organization, they can still do that without teams phone standard as well. The only thing that they can’t do without teams phone standard is making outbound call to the outside world, to the world, outside of your organization, to anyone outside of your organization. So no, you do not need teams phone standard for every single user within your organization. You can just have a regular teams user get an outside call, but it can’t come directly to them. It has to go through like somebody else and then they have to transfer the call to that person.

2. Common Area Phones: Need a shared device license

The other thing that you might be thinking of, what about commentary phones? Do we need to have teams phone standard for common earphones, like a conference room phone or a kitchen phone or a lobby phone or a warehouse phone, things like that? No, you do not need teams phone standard for those users, but you need to add a shared device license for that user, which is kind of the same thing. It’s still about the same cost $8 per month per shared device. So those need a shared device license. So I hope that answered some of your questions.
