Don’t buy the roadmap

Okay, here’s the scenario. You’re sitting on a demo with a new cloud contact center solution service provider, and they’re showing you all these cool bells and whistles and all these cool things. And you bring up a question like, say, for instance, you go, Hey, does your does your solution integrate with Salesforce? A little bit of silence. And they say, actually, that’s on our roadmap. We don’t today, but that’s something we’re going to be doing in Q3 of this year. So maybe six months down the road, they’re saying that. So but probably by the time you install your service, it will be active on our platform. Have you heard that before? if you think that that is a good way to get Salesforce integration or whatever feature you’re talking about, definitely don’t buy it. Don’t buy the roadmap thing. And I’m going to tell you three reasons why that’s a bad idea.

1. It likely won’t ever come

Number one is that feature may not ever happen. So the salesperson is telling you something they’ve heard. It’s not something they’re probably going to put in writing and it may not ever even happen. Maybe they try to roll it out, maybe they put it in beta, maybe it never really works very well. And they go, You know what? We’re just trying too hard. This isn’t our core competency. We’re just going to scratch this and they’re not going to do it. So number one, you don’t even know if it’s something they’re definitely going to have.

2. It is going to be buggy

Number two is once they do roll it out, it’s going to be brand new, something that they’ve never done. So as you can imagine, you guys and I know it’s going to be buggy. It’s not going to work very well. It’s going to be stuff that they’ve got to iron out a lot of bugs probably for about a year or so. So is that the feature you want? Ideally, because is that the type of feature you’re looking for? You want a buggy feature that doesn’t really work very well for a year or so. You know, maybe they don’t have it for the first six months your service and then when they do roll it out, it doesn’t work right? And you’re constantly having to do the update to get it to work right. It’s just it’s not going to be good.

3. It might be missing features you want

And number three, once they do roll it out, even if it’s not buggy, it may not work exactly like you’d like it to. So if you know, using that same example, Salesforce integration, if you go and compare a bunch of different providers on Salesforce integration right now, each one is going to work a little differently and you might have a preference of one versus the other. The way they’ve set it up, the way they’ve designed it, the way it interacts, the little micro features within it. So even if they roll it out, it may not have the functionality that you’re ideally looking for. And since they don’t have it now and it’s on the roadmap, you have no way to test it, right? You want to be able to test that feature. You want them to have it right now so that you can demo it, you can do it in, you know, they can demo it for you with the use case. You can say, Hey, can you demo that for me? Show me how it works, and compare that feature to other service providers who also have it and decide which one you like the best. Well, you can’t do that if they don’t have it. So don’t fall for that. It’s on the roadmap line. If it’s an important feature to your business because it’s just not a good thing.

Confused? Reach out and contact me

All right. So if you’d like my recommendation on the best service providers to quote for your companies call center software solution or contact center software solution, give me a call (714.593.0011) Send me an email. I’d love to help you and I’ll ask you some requirements for your company and I’ll tell you, Hey, if I were you, these are the service providers I quote. These are the service for service providers who have the best reputation for service quality, customer service, who have all the features that you need right now. Nothing’s on the roadmap and they have very competitive pricing. So I’ll help you make a lot more educated decision, a lot better decision in a fraction of the time it would normally take you. I’m a broker for all the major service providers in the marketplace, and I’ve been doing this for over 20 years. So I know the market inside and out and this is my area of expertise. So I’ll get you the right companies or introduce you to the right salespeople. Also oversee the coding process to make sure your company is getting the best pricing and not buying something at too high a price. And the nice thing is, on top of all that, the service providers pay me my broker fee so your company doesn’t have to pay me a dime. So absolutely no excuse not to at least reach out to me and see what I have to say, see what providers I recommend, and give me a test drive, see what I can do for you, for your decision making process.
