What is an ISP Aggregator / ISP Reseller, and when should our company use one?

In this short video, AeroCom’s President, Mike Smith, details what an ISP Aggregator is, when your company will need one, and the benefits your company will experience. He also talks about how much they cost and compares their pricing versus facilities-based ISPs.

Okay, so your company has a lot of locations, or maybe you’re looking to have a lot of locations in the future.

One of the things you’re going to start running into are problems with trying to manage multiple ISPs, and by multiple I’m meaning 5 to 10 to 20 different ISPs.

That means 20 different bills from 20 different ISPs, 20 different customer service numbers, trying to keep track of which locations have which ISPs, and all the stuff that comes with that.

A way to solve that, is to use an ISP Aggregator. These are ISPs out there… they’re actually internet service providers… who specialize in reselling every other facilities-based ISP in the United States, or in the world. The advantage to you is you have one ISP, one bill, yet that ISP can sell you different types of internet connections at different sites.

ISP Aggregators - When do I need one?

For instance, for the sites that have Comcast, they can sell you a Comcast connection, they can sell you an AT&T ABF fiber connection, they can sell you dedicated fiber at certain sites, they can sell you fixed wireless at certain sites, they can sell you the 4G that you need for backup at certain sites. Yet, you still have one customer service number, one bill, and you have a web portal where you can see it all and manage it all.

So, if you ever get a trouble ticket coming in from one of your sites, you still have one phone number to contact. This’ll help reduce billing errors, so billing errors will be caught right away. That’ll save you a ton of money right away.

Also, you can have that ISP Aggregator offer a monitoring service. So for a small amount per month, maybe $7 or so per circuit per month, the ISP will actually ping all of your IP addresses and let you know if one of the connections is experiencing a ton of latency, or a ton of packet loss, or goes down, and they’ll automatically start a trouble ticket right away. That is a lot better than finding out (months later), that one of your secondary internet connections (at one of the sites), has been down for three months… and nobody knew.

As your company grows, the more sites you get, the more it makes sense to use an ISP Aggregator. Yes, an ISP Aggregator, you might be wondering cost wise, does charge a little bit more. I’d say roughly about 20-30% more per site for that same connection you’d get by going direct, but the amount of soft cost savings you’ll have will, by far, exceed the additional hard cost savings you have by going with an ISP Aggregator.

I hope that helps. If you have any questions, please let me know. Or if you’d like some recommendations on the best ISP Aggregators that would be a good fit for your business and the type of internet connections you have, please reach out, we’d be happy to help. [email protected]. 877-465-3505.
