Well, so let’s say your company is experiencing some DDoS attacks and you want to start looking into DDoS solution providers or DDoS mitigation providers. One of the things you’ll run into, right out of the gate, is there’s a myriad of different types of solutions. And it’s really hard to start to differentiate which type of solution that you should look at.

But one of the first things you need to think about is: Does your company need a proactive monitoring solution or a reactive mitigation solution?

The difference between it really is, is a proactive, just like it sounds, that DDoS mitigation solution is always looking for a possible DDoS attack and will start mitigating the second it detects it. Or some of them will reach out to you and tell you, “Hey, we are seeing this. Would you like us to start mitigating right now?” and have you approve it. That’s different than a reactive model.

DDoS Protection - Proactive v Reactive

A reactive model, you actually have to recognize you’re being attacked. And then you have to call your service provider and have them start mitigating the attack. Typically, proactive solutions, they can mitigate and attack within minutes, within seconds sometimes. Whereas a reactive solution, a lot of times is a lot less expensive but their time to mitigate, a lot of times, they’ll give you a guaranteed time of like eight hours.

So if your servers need to be up and running all the time and your company’s going to lose money if you start getting attacked (right away), if it’s going to be devastating to your organization, you definitely want to go with a proactive DDoS protection solution and look at those solutions as opposed to reactive solutions.

And if anyone wants to know which providers are the best proactive DDoS mitigation solutions for their company, just email or call us, at 877-465-3505 and we’ll go through a series of questions and find out more information about the attacks you’re worried about receiving (or you are receiving), and we’ll definitely give you some recommendations on the best DDoS mitigation solutions for your company.
