Your company is looking into managed detection and response, MDR. And one of the questions you’re thinking is how in the world do we know which service providers we should at least quote, because if you’ve Googled it, you’ve probably seen there’s dozens if not hundreds of MDR service providers out there that you could quote, and they all look pretty similar. So how do you really differentiate between all these service providers and know which ones your company should be quoting?

Ask about an Assessment

Well, one of the things you should look at is some of them offer a free forensic assessment and sit-down meeting afterward, before you sign any long-term agreements. So what they’ll do is for no charge, they’ll come in and give you a full forensic assessment on cybersecurity and saying, “Okay, well, here’s what we found.” So in other words, they’re coming in and justifying their service to you. They’re saying, “Okay, here’s what we found on a daily basis. Here’s the things that we think you need to be watching out for. Here’s the holes and gaps. And here’s how much time this takes us to look at this stuff. And here’s why we think you need us and our support.”

Managed Detection and Response Providers Comparison - free forensic assessment

How much does it cost?

And it’s all free. So just something to think about upfront. Not a lot of MDR vendors offer that, but some of them do.

So maybe it’s something your organization might want front, instead of them saying, “Hey, we don’t really know until you sign it up with us and sign a big long-term contract with us.” And then you kind of don’t really know what they’re going to deliver. Well, make them prove it up front. The proof is in the pudding, right? So let them do that free assessment for you up front. If they’re worth their weight, maybe they’ll do that. And that’s something to maybe look out for. So if you’re shopping for MDR service providers, ask around, do you provide a free forensic assessment up front and a sit-down meeting after that assessment before we sign anything? So something to think about.

Ask me about MDR

And hey, if you’d like my recommendation on the best MDR companies that your organization should be quoting, you can do things like watch all these videos, and that’s great and everything, but reach out and contact me, via email or by phone (714.593.0011). This is my job. I’m a broker for all the major cybersecurity companies. And so based on your company’s requirements, I can pair you up with the right MDR companies that you should be quoting right out of the gate, without you having to do all this legwork.

So I can pair you up with the right companies. I can introduce you to the right people within those organizations to help you get quotes and propose their solutions. And I can also oversee the whole process. And the nice thing is the MDR companies pay me my broker fees. So you don’t actually have to pay for the service I’m providing you. So no excuse not to at least reach out and see what I have to say about your organization’s requirements and which vendors you might want to be thinking about quoting.
