Teams Phone is Perfect Fit
Well, I can tell you right out of the gate what I would tell you. The best fit for Microsoft teams phone system is if you’re a medium to large sized company, you’re using teams a lot today, like your company uses teams religiously already for instant messaging and conferencing. You have an E5 license, you don’t use the phones a whole lot, so you don’t need a whole lot of features and you use operator connect. So that would be the perfect fit scenario, I would tell you for Microsoft Teams phone system. Now, maybe if you don’t have one or two of those things, Microsoft teams phone system might still be a fit. But I would say that the further you get away from those things, the less and less of a good fit. Microsoft teams phone becomes,
My Ratings for Microsoft Teams Phone System
okay, well, how would I rate Microsoft teams phone system? Well, I’ve been selling Microsoft teams phone system to my medium to large size companies since it came out in 2018. So let me give you my breakdown. And I have kind of a ten point rating system that I use, and I’m going to kind of go over that with you and tell you the overall rating that I would give Microsoft teams phone system. This will be interesting.
Number one, what I say is the most important thing is service quality and reliability. If you don’t have that, you don’t have a good phone system for a medium to large sized company. In my opinion, that to me is number one. On a scale of 1 to 10, one being poor, ten being perfect, I would give Microsoft teams phone system an eight on reliability and service quality. Reason being is just because they’ve had outages continually in the past since 2018. Now it’s not that often, but at least once or twice a year you hear of a microsoft teams phone system outage.
I would say the second most important thing is customer service. If a company does not have good customer service, it’s not a vendor that I ever recommend Microsoft Teams phone system. I would give them a nine on this only if you are using an operator, connect a vendor to supply you with the dial tone and phone numbers for Microsoft teams Phone system. If you’re going directly to Microsoft, I would not give them a nine out of ten in terms of live 24 seven support, that’s nonexistent, right? So if you use an operator connect vendor.
5 Year Viability
five year viability. I think this is important because whatever phone system that your company chooses, you at least want it to be around for five years before the company sells to somebody else. The next thing you know, your platform is grandfathered or they get rid of it altogether and they start changing things. So I like rating companies on a five year viability. Do I think this companies solution is going to be around for at least five more years? And for that, I would give Microsoft teams phone system a nine. I think the chances are really good. It’s going to be around for another five years. Yeah, there’s always a chance they can change things. Hey, Microsoft’s done it in the past, right? It used to be Lync, then it was Skype for business. Now it’s teams phone system, so there is a chance they could come out with something else. They could buy another company and have that replaced teams. And the fact that they’ve had a lot of things on the roadmap since 2018 that are still on the roadmap today and 2025. So they’re not really pouring a ton of R&D into it, not like other systems out there. So there is a little bit of questioning there, but I think five years from now, I think teams, phone systems still going to be around. So I argue that give them a nine on that.
Features
All right. The next category, AI grade phone systems and AR features. Does the phone system have all the features that all the biggest competitors have? Well, this is where Microsoft teams phone system falls short. All right. I give them a five on this one because they don’t have things like call recording, always on call recording, like you’re always recording certain people’s phone calls all the time. They don’t have that. They don’t have SMS text messaging, they don’t have call analytics, they don’t have customizable call analytics, they don’t have a reception console, and on and on and on. Microsoft teams, phone systems. Big problem over the years since 2018 is they have a lot of feature gaps. They still have a lot of those feature gaps. They don’t have call center software. So that’s been since 2018. That’s still the problem today. I give them a five on that one.

UX & AX
Their user experience, I give them a nine. I think teams phone system is pretty easy to use. Yeah, it’s not perfect. Yeah, it doesn’t have every single thing that a user would need, but I give them a nine on that. In terms of the administrative experience, how easy is it to administer teams phone system? I give them a five on that. It’s not that easy to administer. Most small companies I tell don’t even mess with teams. Phone system unless you have an I.T department because setting things up is just not very intuitive in my opinion. So I give them a five okay.
Pricing
Price wise for Microsoft teams phone system for medium to large sized company. I give them a nine and the reason I give them a nine is most medium to large sized companies have an E five license already if you have an 85 license Microsoft teams phone system if you use the right operator, connect vendor. If you’re medium to large sized company, it can be really inexpensive. Check out my video I just did on pricing for Microsoft teams Phone system for medium to large sized companies, it’s like 2 to $4 per month per user if you have any five license. So have to give them a nine on that. That’s really good. And but if you don’t use an operator connect vendor, I would not give them a nine because then you’re having to get teams phone standard, which costs $8 per month per user. And the calling plan on top of that. So you’re end up paying ten $12 to $15 per month per user, depending on how big your company is and what kind of pricing discounts you can get. And simply said all the other vendors are going to be less expensive than that. So if you have a good operator connect vendor and you have an E5 license, great. If you don’t have any five license, I wouldn’t give them a nine. In terms of pricing, there are going to be probably a little bit more expensive than your competitors out there for medium to large sized company
Global Availability & Integration
global availability. I got to give them a ten on this because no company is more globally available than my. Soft. Enough said.
Integration. Does team’s phone system integrate well with CRM systems out there in other software? I give them a one on this. They do not have an open API and that is number one. You got to have an open API and they don’t have pre-built great integration with the most popular apps out there like Salesforce, ServiceNow, Zendesk. They don’t have integration with that stuff. They have a very limited API, so that really limits them on integration. So with integration, I give them a one. If you count dynamics, maybe I’d grade them higher, but that doesn’t really count. That’s in their same ecosystem, that’s their same company. So they integrate really well, dynamics, everything else not so good.
Hardware
And finally, hardware. How do I grade their hardware? I give them a six. The reason why is their hardware is pretty much proprietary. If you want your phone system to work well, you’ve got to get Microsoft certified handset. So it’s only for Microsoft. So they’re more expensive than your typical IP phones that you get for any other of the competitive cloud business phone systems out there. So they’re more expensive, they’re proprietary. So if you change down the road, you’re not going be able to use those same phones with other solutions that you get. So I give them a six on that.
My Overall Sore
So overall, my grade, my rating for Microsoft teams phone system for medium to large sized company is a 7.1 out of ten Pretty good.
Not sometimes the best but again that doesn’t mean for every single company you got to really look at the things I described and apply them to your company. Is that important for you guys like features? I rated them really low. Maybe your business doesn’t need any features, so that’s not very important to you. So maybe that’s 7.1 for you is a little bit different. Maybe you make your own grade for them, but overall, if you like some pricing on Microsoft teams phone system, if you’re a medium to large sized company, you need to reach out, send me an email or give me a call (714.593.0011).
