  • DefinitionColocation is a service that allows companies to place their company-owned servers in a service providers’ data center. Providers charge on a monthly basis for space, bandwidth and power. Although providers sometimes vary, space is usually sold per cabinet (approx. 40 U’s of space), bandwidth is usually sold in 10M Increments and power is usually sold in 20 amp 120V circuit increments.
  • Best Fit:  A company that will lose a significant amount of efficiency and/or hard-dollar money if their servers have downtime.
  • Benefits:
  • Lower IT facility costs.
  • Less Costly Downtime. Your servers are sitting in a data center that has spent millions of dollars on redundancy and security. Your customers, remote users and/or additional sites are not dependent on your hub site’s power, equipment, connectivity and staff.
