One Must-Have Feature for Enterprise AI: Your Data Stays Yours

If your company is evaluating enterprise AI solutions, one of the first things you need to confirm is whether the vendor will put it in writing that they will not learn off of your company’s data. This is non-negotiable.

Why Does This Matter?

Here’s a common scenario. A salesperson uploads your company’s price list into the enterprise AI solution because they want help creating quotes. Simple enough. But what if that AI solution learns off of your company’s data? Suddenly your proprietary price list is part of the model’s training data — and potentially accessible to anyone using that platform. Your competitive pricing, your margins, your internal documents — all of it exposed because one employee used the tool the way it was intended.

That’s Just One Example

The same risk applies to any sensitive data your employees might upload — customer lists, contracts, HR records, financial data, product roadmaps. People use AI tools to get help with their work, and their work involves sensitive information. If the AI is learning from what they upload, your company’s data is at risk every single time someone uses the tool.

Get It in Writing

The fix is straightforward — before you sign any contract with an enterprise AI vendor, make sure they will put in writing that their solution will not learn off of your company’s data. If a vendor won’t commit to that in writing, that’s a red flag. Move on. Any reputable enterprise AI solution worth deploying at scale should have no problem making that commitment contractually.

This Is Just One of Several Must-Haves

Data privacy is one item on a longer checklist of must-have features for enterprise AI. I’ve covered others in separate videos — including PII recognition and redaction and SOC 2 compliance. Watch those videos or reach out to me directly and I’ll walk you through the full list based on your company’s specific needs.
