Seven Key Features to Look for in Enterprise AI

All right. So if your company is looking into enterprise AI, you probably know there are a lot of different options out there. So you’re wondering which things are the most important to your company. Well, I can tell you there are seven features that I think are the most important features you should be looking at. Let’s talk about those.

Feature 1: PII Recognition and Protection

The first is that the enterprise AI solution can recognize and block, blur out, or get rid of PII—personal information—that employees might be submitting into the AI platform. The AI platform should be able to recognize PII and either blur it out, delete it, or replace it with dummy information. That’s number one.

Feature 2: SOC 2 Compliance

The second feature your company should be looking for is to make sure your enterprise AI solution is SOC 2 compliant. That just means they’re putting their money where their mouth is and going through audits to make sure they’re completely compliant and secure.

Feature 3: No Learning From Company Data

The third feature is that the enterprise AI solution is willing to put in writing that the AI solution will not learn from your company’s data. Pretty self-explanatory on why you wouldn’t want the AI solution to do that.

Feature 4: Logging Capabilities

The fourth feature is logging. You’re going to want the enterprise AI solution to have a log of all activity by employees—for HR reasons, security, and to understand how AI is being used. Logs can help identify training needs, popular use cases, and ways to support employees better. Logging overall is pretty important for an enterprise solution.

Feature 5: Single Sign-On (SSO)

The fifth feature is single sign-on. You definitely want the enterprise AI solution to support single sign-on so that employees don’t have to sign into yet another app. This is a big one for IT departments across all applications right now.

Feature 6: Role-Based Access

The sixth feature is role-based access. Different employees in your organization have different roles and permissions, which determine the data they can access. The AI tools should reflect this, allowing role-based permissions so only authorized employees can access certain data sets.

Feature 7: Multi-Model Access

And lastly, number seven is multi-model access. This is the ability to access multiple AI models from one application. Each AI model has different strengths, and your company’s needs today may not be the same in three to five years. Employees will also use AI for different applications—from marketing content to sales data to software development. Rather than managing multiple models separately, a multi-model AI solution allows access to several models within one platform. Another advantage is cost: multi-model access is often based on platform pricing rather than per-user pricing, making it more cost-effective for mid-size and large companies.
