Common misconceptions about IT as as Service have led some to look past the real benefits of this model and have yet to realize the positive impacts that it could have on your business. What they don’t realize is that it’s not just another delivery model and that it’s not dependent on the cloud, but it’s an entire new business strategy. Even those involved in IT enterprise are finding that ITaaS is a new, improved and beneficial model. ITaaS orchestrates internal and external services as a modern service provider. Business users can use this model and make decisions based all around the pricing structure. With the 3rd party cloud service provider, ITaaS has always served the same parties with the same IT services; its overall core concept is to serve the users in a quick and up to date manner.

With the new ITaaS model, it is believed to be creating more competition in the IT industry. Its concept has remained relatively the same when it came to providing users with their IT business needs. But with the new model business users can now choose directly what they need, whether that is applications, network, or infrastructure, instead of relying on an IT enterprise. IT is now facing competition from public cloud service providers. Along with the ITaaS model bringing competition to IT enterprises, another important component that it offers, that IT companies may struggle with, is knowing exactly what your customers needs are. Being able to fulfill their needs 100% has a lot to do with your marketing and sales strategy. With the ITaaS model, users are enabled to pick and choose exactly what they need and what is best for their business, without needing someone to do the shopping for them.  ITaaS is not limited or dependent on cloud computing. This is another common misconception of ITaaS. It just enhances IT organization to put it simply. It provides businesses with the hardware and support that is needs on a monthly fee. Some other common misconceptions but major benefits of ITaaS include:

  • A minimal upfront IT investment
  • Tax advantages
  • Guarantee of up-to-date hardware

As more users migrate to the ITaaS model for infrastructure, software and other IT needs, some are expecting this more effective, more affordable model to soar. ITaaS has a new operational model requiring new policies and new skills.
