My Time at AeroCom

Working as a marketing intern at AeroCom Inc. for the past six months has been an absolutely incredible experience. My time here has been educational, invigorating, and extremely fulfilling. I have had the opportunity to work with forward-thinking, accomplished individuals who have all worked hard to be where they are today. The comrade and support within this company has inspired and encouraged me to be the best that I can be. Not only have I grown as a young, aspiring marketer, but I have also grown as an individual.

I will always remember my interview with my soon-to-be manager, Janelle Abaoag, who serves as AeroCom’s marketing director. I asked her, “What is the common theme between all the employees at AeroCom?” To which she quickly replied, “They are all wholesome, active, and bright people who are fun to be around.” At that moment, I knew this was going to be a good fit.

Although notably skilled and successful in its niche industry, a company can only rely on its intellect and skill set to a certain degree. I cannot doubt the importance of a company’s culture and method of management. Janelle could not have said truer words… The AeroCom team, or “A-Team,” we like to say, took me in and encouraged me to grow. I was not “just an intern,” I was an integral part of a working team that valued my opinions and ideas. We hit the ground running and immediately started brainstorming and developing new marketing strategies. AeroCom offers and extremely collaborative and hands-on environment where I am responsible for researching execution tactics and content creation. This is definitely a position where I could let me creativity shine!

Working closely with Janelle allowed me the opportunity to improve on a weekly basis. We met to discuss our goals as a marketing department, to evaluate the success of our current strategies, and to address any areas in need of improvement. Janelle always took the time to discuss my individual goals and my progress, taking note of which projects I enjoyed doing most. She valued my personal satisfaction and self-fulfillment by balancing my interests with my talents and encouraging me to focus on the skills that I wanted to develop. I could not be more grateful for the time I got to spend with her in our weekly one-on-one meetings.

These management qualities are consistent throughout the entire company, as President, Mike Smith, holds a company-wide meeting on a weekly basis. We discuss company goals, accomplishments, highlights, and even have the opportunity to give shout-outs to hard working team members. Often times I would leave those meetings with a new zeal and motivation to aggressively pursue my goals.

My skill set has grown tremendously, I have unlocked a whole new level of inner creativity, and I have become much more confident in myself and my abilities as a marketer. Blogging has become second nature, video production is my new passion, and social media engagement is my most favored challenge. I would definitely suggest this internship experience to anyone who may be looking for an opportunity to apply their critical thinking and creativity in a collaborative and interactive environment. Being shy won’t fly here, as you will be expected to create content, suggest strategies, and engage directly with our target market. You will most definitely leave a bolder and brighter person from the day you walked in.
