My Recommendation

If you’d like a demo or a quote on Intermedia’s cloud phone system for your medium to large size company — 50 or more employees — don’t call Intermedia directly. Reach out to me instead. Send me an email or give me a call at 714.593.0011. I’ll get you better pricing than if you go direct, set you up with a vetted salesperson at Intermedia, and let you know which other competitors your company might want to look at side by side. I’m a broker for all the major cloud phone system service providers and I’ve been doing this for over 20 years. My services are completely free to you; the vendors pay my broker fee. Join the thousands of other IT departments who have used me to help their company make a better decision in a fraction of the time. Why Focus on Medium to Large Size Companies?

Before jumping in, Intermedia works for companies of all sizes, but medium to large-sized organizations are my area of expertise. That’s what I work with every day. The things I like about Intermedia for companies your size may look a little different than for small businesses, so this post is geared toward IT departments managing 100 to thousands of employees.

1. Intermedia Is Very Microsoft Teams Friendly

The first thing I really like about Intermedia is how well they play with Microsoft Teams. In my experience, the majority of medium to large size companies are using the Microsoft ecosystem heavily — Teams for instant messaging and conferencing especially. So having a phone system that integrates tightly with Teams is a big deal.

Bi-Directional Presence Sync

Intermedia has bi-directional presence sync with Microsoft Teams. If someone is on a call through Intermedia, their Teams presence shows it. If someone is in a Teams meeting, their Intermedia presence shows it. Both platforms can see each other’s status in real time. For large companies where colleagues work across different cities or time zones, that visibility matters; you can see at a glance whether someone is on a call or in a meeting before you try to transfer or message them.

Teams Browser Plugin

Intermedia also has a Teams browser plugin that embeds directly inside the Teams app — and it works for both their phone system and their call center solution. When you open Teams, an Intermedia icon appears in the left-hand sidebar. Click it and the Intermedia softphone opens right inside Teams. Your agents and employees can answer calls, transfer calls, and manage everything from the phone system without ever leaving Teams.

Direct Routing for Teams

Lastly, Intermedia offers Teams Phone direct routing. If your company wants to use native Teams Phone System, Intermedia can supply the calling plan and dial tone under the hood. That means if Teams ever goes down, Intermedia’s platform stays up — users just log in through a browser to keep making and receiving calls. You also get more features through direct routing than you would with native Teams Phone System on its own.

2. Free Desk Phones Included

The second thing I like about Intermedia is that many of their cloud phone system packages include free desk phones. A lot of providers make you go out and purchase hardware separately — Intermedia bundles it in. If your company needs physical desk phones for some or all of your users, that’s a meaningful value add that can save your organization real money at scale.

3. Competitive Month-to-Month Pricing

The third thing I really like about Intermedia — and this one is genuinely unique in the industry — is that they offer competitive month-to-month pricing. Most providers push you toward long-term contracts to unlock their best rates. Intermedia’s philosophy is different: they want to earn your business every single month, so they offer competitive pricing without locking you into a multi-year agreement.

Why That Matters for Medium to Large Companies

Medium to large size companies change constantly — they grow, downsize, acquire other companies, and restructure. Committing to a fixed number of licenses across hundreds or thousands of users is risky when your headcount fluctuates. With month-to-month pricing, you never have to worry about early termination penalties when you need to scale down temporarily. That flexibility is a real advantage at your size.

Bonus #1: Affordable AI Assistant

Intermedia’s AI assistant is very good and very affordable — we’re talking hundreds of dollars per month, not thousands. Most providers charge thousands per month for comparable AI functionality. Intermedia’s AI assistant is a generative AI solution with a large language model built in, capable of answering inbound calls and delivering a full conversational AI experience for your customers. For medium to large size companies that want AI without the enterprise price tag, this is a standout feature.

Bonus #2: A Long History of Excellent Customer Support

The last thing I want to highlight is Intermedia’s track record for customer service. Over 15 years ago, I used Intermedia for our company’s hosted exchange platform — and at that time, they were widely recognized among IT consultants as having the best customer support in that space. That reputation has carried over into their cloud phone system business. For IT departments managing hundreds or thousands of employees, support quality is non-negotiable. When a vendor doesn’t support you well, it becomes a nightmare fast. Intermedia understands that and has built their reputation around getting it right.

Want a Demo and Quote on Intermedia?

Those are my top three things — plus two bonuses — about Intermedia’s cloud phone system for medium to large size companies. There are plenty of other features worth exploring, and there are other providers I’d recommend looking at side by side with Intermedia depending on your company’s needs. Send me an email or give me a call at 714.593.0011. I’ll get you better pricing, a vetted salesperson, a great demo, and honest recommendations on whether Intermedia is the right fit — or if another provider might serve you better. And I don’t charge your company anything. Don’t forget to subscribe to the YouTube channel, check out AeroComInc.com, and leave me a comment below.
