My recommendations

Should you shop for vendors nearby?

Geography should not be a consideration in terms of a truck roll. You shouldn’t be thinking in terms of, Hey, should we have a company that’s close by that can install our phone system locally? Because, you know, and I don’t blame you for thinking that because that’s the way phone systems have always been installed on prem phone systems here. Vendor would come out and they’d be on site for two or three days installing the phone system, training everybody on it. That was just the normal way of doing it, but not any more. So you don’t have to worry about a vendor that’s close by you to install your phone system. All the handsets themselves, they come preconfigured, they’re just plug and play. It’s very simple. Everything is programed remotely. You don’t have to worry about anybody on site installing and training everybody. That’s not something you have to worry about anymore.

Should our Business’ Cloud Phone System Provider be in close proximity?

Points of Presence (POPs)

That’s really a thing of the past, however, especially if you’re a global company, making sure that your company has selects a cloud phone system vendor that has points of presence or pops or central offices that are somewhat near all of your company’s locations is important. And the reason why is because those are the aggregation areas where all of your calls are going to hit the public switch telephone network. So your calls are going to have to travel the public Internet to those locations, to those pops before they go out over the public switch telephone network. So if you think about it, if you have a location in Australia in the cloud phone system company, you’re using only has a point of presence in the United States. Every time someone uses the phone in Australia, they’re having to go all the way back to the United States to go out on the public switch telephone network. So because of that long distance, what you’re going to get is you’re going to get more latency, more packet loss and more jitter on those phone calls, which is going to cause call quality issues. So that’s the kind of geography that you need to worry about, is where the service providers points of presence in relation to where our users are at, not really worrying about where their locations are, where they have people to deploy to your site because you’re not going to need them to deploy people to your site ever. And the things that you’ll need at your site might be like an overhead paging system, things like that.

Still confused? Reach out and contact me

And you can find a local vendor to help you with things like that. But you won’t need your cloud phone system provider to come and help you locally. I hope that was helpful. Again, if you’d like my help and you’re a mid-sized company with 50 or more phone system users, if you’d like my recommendations on the best cloud phone system vendors, your companies should be quoting, reach out, send me an email or give me a call (714.593.0011). I will help you make a lot better decision in a fraction of the time. This is what I do and it’s what I’ve done for 20 years. I’m a broker for all the major cloud phone system vendors out there. I represent like over three or 400 of them. So based on your company’s requirements, I can tell you the best three or four companies your company should be quoting, I can introduce you to the best salespeople at those vendors that you should be working with. And I can oversee the quoting process to make sure your company gets the best pricing on the vendor of your choice. There’s definitely also some bad vendors out there that you should not be quoting, and I can give you some insight into that as well. So you don’t get yourself into a nightmare signing up with a bad vendor that’s got a really bad reputation, but you just didn’t know about it and the install goes bad.

Everybody’s pointing. You like, Hey, how come you chose this vendor role? Avoid all that, just reach out, contact me, send me an email, give me a call. I’d love to help you. And on top of all that stuff, I don’t charge your company a dime for my broker services. The cloud phone system vendors actually pay me my broker fee, so I don’t charge anything to your company for getting my advice. So there’s no excuse not to at least reach out and see what I have to say. So send me an email. Give me a call. I’d love to hear from you. It’s the reason why I do these videos.
