Your 2014 Telecom Expense Management Buyer’s Guide!

This guide has been developed for business owners and managers to assist them when selecting the most cost effective TEM software for their multi-location business. TEM is a software package that allows business’ end users to manage all their phone bills as one. TEM software is generally used by organizations that have separate business locations spread over a wide geographic area. Having many locations, it’s difficult for a single phone company to provide for ALL of the telecom voice, data, and Internet bandwidth services.

How do you know if you’re ready for TEM?

  1. Do you pay a phone bill month after month without really knowing what the phone bill is for?
  2. The employee that’s assigned to the original GL codes for a bill that no longer works for the company?
  3. Are you afraid to disconnect unknown phone services in case something might happen?
  4. Are your different company department heads all in charge of their own telecom services?
  5. Does it cost you more in employee labor to process a phone bill than the phone bill itself?

If all of these questions are a YES for you…it may be time to consider TEM software. But wait! Before you begin your search for the perfect product, be sure to ask yourself these questions before purchasing.

  1. How much do you want to spend-monthly- on phone data and internet bills each month and you’ll want to manage with your TEM software?
  2. How much does it cost you to process each individual phone bill each month?
  3. Are all of your GL codes up to date for each individual phone bill?
  4. Are your reporting needs very simple or complicated?
  5. How comfortable are you having your phone bill information in “the cloud”?
  6. How many other “satisfied customer references” does there need to be for the package considered?
  7. How much of the “loading and managing” of your phone bills’ information into the TEM software are you prepared to hand in-house?
  8. How “direct” do you need your relationship with the original phone carrier to remain?
  9. Are you good at “trust but verify”?
  10. Are you okay with a “single solution provider” that “does it all” as long as your phone bills don’t actually go up?
