Why Apple Might Be Postponing the iPhone 6 Release Date

If you have been counting down the days to Apple’s release of the new iPhone 6, you may want to keep on counting! Apple is experiencing some design difficulties with the 6 models. Not only will the new line of phones have bigger screens, they will also be thinner. Because of these demands, Apple may be forced to change their launch date for possibly one or both iPhone 6 models.

Case makers have jumped the gun by announcing cases for the iPhone 6, ahead of launch date.

(Image:PCadvisor.co.uk) Casemakers have jumped the gun by announcing cases for the iPhone 6, ahead of launch date. These cases give a good idea of what the new phone will look like.

The iPhone 5S is 7.6 mm thick, but some people think Apple is trying to go even thinner. Leaked photos of the iPhone 6 showcase a phone that has rounded edges and are approximately one or two millimeters smaller, in depth.

Apple is also having issues with the screens backlighting; they wanted to gain a profile design edge with a single backlight layer (most smartphones have two layers) in the 4.7-inch model of the iPhone 6, according to a report by Reuters. The single layer caused the 4.7-inch screen to be too dim and Apple was forced to rethink the design and add another layer. Reuters also stated that this issue happened during this summer and that production is on track for the 4.7-inch model.

However this isn’t Apple’s only problem, they are also experiencing delays with the larger 5.5-inch model, as reports suggest it may be delayed until 2015 – again because of a “thinness” issue. Since the phone is so thin, suppliers are having a difficult time finding a battery that fits the phone properly.

Of course Apple was happy to comment on these rumors…NOT! That would only be wishful thinking. As usual, they aren’t saying a word! But let’s hope they don’t postpone the date too far out, because Samsung is ready for the launch of their new Galaxy Alpha phone, on September 12, 2014. Apple should really get it together, and fast.

The iPhone 6 was expected to unveil on September 9, 2014. However, with the new delays, they may not be able to deliver after all – if the rumors are true of course. If anything, they may announce the new phone, and delay actual product availability. This would really put a damper on consumers who have been impatiently waiting.

Until Apple figures out its master plan, you can check out these leaked photos that were released this week.
