The Difference between a Virtual Desktop and a Hosted Desktop

March 27, 2014 Aerocom

Both of these systems are different in their own ways and do not have a distinct feature that makes them better. The best features will come out of on what your business needs.

  • A Hosted Desktop: (also known as a hosted virtual desktop) is a desktop being housed on your behalf. The desktop will be hosted by a provider and you wouldn’t need to worry on your own servers for its life. It is virtually made available to you out of your physical computer or laptop by the service of your provider.
  • A Virtual Desktop:is when your desktop is “living” on your own computer and server while having the capability of running two or more copies of windows. This would be the only advantage rather than having a provider host your desktop virtually.

Some business may choose to use a Hosted Desktop since it secures their files in a safe place. As long as a business has internet service, the Hosted Desktop would be available virtually anywhere. If your business does not wish to have a provider host their desktop and rather depend on their own servers, then the Virtual Desktop should be your choice.
