Necessary Questions To Ask When Implementing MDM

There is no doubt that Mobile Device Management, or “MDM” is beneficial for any organization. Not only does it allow users to access company data from any mobile device, it also increases employee workplace productivity and efficiency… both in and out of the office!

MDM is a big investment that can take some time while shopping for the perfect provider and technology. We provide for you, a few questions to ask yourself when deciding to implement MDM into your company.

    1. MDM is a big investment…is a System Integrator vendor necessary to implement it? – The bigger the SI, the lower the odds of a successful implementation. MDM programs don’t benefit from having armies of people involved in their implementation; the best implementations I’ve seen done have been at the hands of an experienced MDM SWAT team with a smaller number of highly specialized members.

    1. Are you calculating costs by unit price or by overall cost? – As in any large purchase, cost will always be a factor in MDM SI selection. When you’re stacking up the potential costs of one SI against another, you should ensure you’re comparing the total cost of implementation and ownership and not the unit cost per resource. You’d be amazed how many clients fall into this trap.

    1. What kind of support is available for my device? – It’s a bonus if your new device has solid backing from a reputable vendor with good service and support capabilities. In addition, you might also want to look at the mobile device management capabilities of your network and go with a technology that yoru IT infrastructure can support.
