IBM announced this week that they are releasing a new language-based cognitive service which provides instant access to powerful predictive and visual analytic tools for businesses. According to analysts, not enough people use analytics in their business. The new system will allow users to efficiently acquire analytics.

The company hopes that this will entice companies to work with their big data through Big Blue; which is why they are introducing a freemium model. This model will allow companies to upload their data to IBM cloud at no cost. Once information has been loaded to the cload, IBM claims that it will provide predictive insights for businesses to use. No longer will you have to fret about not being a computer whiz, Watson Analytics makes understanding data a breeze!

Watson Analytics will provide various self-service analytics, which include easy-to-use data refinement and data warehousing services, making it easier for businesses to acquire and prepare data – this process will move past spreadsheets – for analysis and visualization that can be acted upon and interacted with, IBM claims.

There are three key innovations, of Watson Analytics, that could largely reduce the skills needed to participate in advanced analytics:

  • Single Business Analytics Experience – provides a more unified experience with self-service enterprise data and analytics capabilities on the cloud. Watson Analytics can help companies properly evaluate analytics and increase overall collaboration efforts within departments.
  • Guided Predictive Analytics – helps companies visually track patterns and relationships that they may have never realized before. An ability to acknowledge such patters will help businesses hone into the areas that are most important within their business.
  • Natural Language Dialogue – Watson Analytics also speaks “the language of business and people” because it allows them to easily search for what they would like to see. The program helps business people look at results and easily determine possible future trends or outcomes.

Bob Picciano, Senior Vice President at IBM, said, “Watson Analytics is designed to help all business people – from sales reps on the road to company CEOs – see patterns, pursue ideas and improve all types of decisions. We have eliminated the barrier between the answers they seek, the analytics they want and the data in the form they need. The combination of Watson-fueled analytics to magnify human cognition, the vast potential of big data, and cloud-scale deliver to PCs, smart phones and other devices is transformational.”

It is clear that this new system was built with a simplistic theme, in order to save business people the one thing that is most precious to them – TIME!

IBM will be releasing Watson Analytics for beta test users within the next 30 days. To stay updated on this topic visit: visit: ibm.com/watsonanalytics.
