There are a plethora of benefits to having Multi protocol Label Switching or MPLS. I have narrowed it down to why your company should make the switch and how it can benefit you, not just at your business but in your pocket as well when it comes to costs. MPLS essentially speeds up networking traffic flow and is easier to manage. It is a network that tells your data where to go with short labeled paths rather than your long addresses. It makes it easier for your router to find it and transfer it faster, safer and cheaper. It is typically used where multiple areas share data connection and when network congestion occurs on the same connections. It is beneficial for companies that have needs for both voice calls and data and are looking for a scaled down wide area network (WAN). Some benefits for MPLS can be essential to the success of your business in what I call the better version of I.R.S.
1. Improve Uptime
With MPLS, you are sending your data over an alternate path. With that you are reducing the likelihood of human error and bringing down your circuit.
2. Reduce Network Congestion
MPLS offers engineering options that allow traffic to be sent over a path that is not standard. Therefore is reduces congestion and reduces latency on the paths that are avoided due to this specific engineering.
3. Scalability
MPLS combines the quality of physical circuits with more cost-effective pure IP routing. Configuring circuits and having MPLS allows you to set up tunnels or label-switched paths through an automatic and smaller less complex system.
Although there are many benefits to MPLS, these were just three important ones that may be cost effective and appealing to your telecom needs. I.R.S can’t be that bad, especially when it comes to multi protocol label switching!
