October 25, 2013 Aerocom

Both Hosted Desktop and Microsoft Office 365 are great solutions and essentials for your business! However, both are extremely different from the other, whether it’s through features or by benefits. Below, you’ll find the comparisons between the two and can discover which solution would suite your business best.

So what are the differences?

Office 365:

The main purpose of Office 365 is to provide a predominantly web based solution that provides email and the ability to create, edit and save documents.

With Office 365 when you open a document it will have to transfer in its entirety to your host device. If you have more than a couple of users using Office 365

Hosted Desktop:

With a Hosted Desktop, all of the processing is carried out within the Hosted Desktop boundaries. This effectively means that nothing needs to transfer to your host device (thin client, iPad, smartphone; iPhone/Android, desktop) so you won’t incur any bandwidth issues, the only thing that is transferred is the screen pixels.

A Hosted Desktop includes Hosted Email, Microsoft Office, all your applications (eg Sage, CRM, Acrobat) and all of your data. With a Hosted Desktop you no longer need to worry about hardware, backups, security or maintenance, all of that is taken care of. You never need to upgrade or replace your server again.
