Is my internet connection strong enough for a Hosted PBX?

A strong internet connection is vital for this technology to work. You will need to have a high speed connection for the best call quality. Using an online speed test can help you determine how fast your internet speed is and if you are ready to deploy. If you usually experience 15 calls at the same time, then you will need an upload and download speed of 1.2 meg. (Meg is calculated by your upstream and downstream. Upstream is how fast you send data to the internet provider. Downstream is how fast you can receive the data.)

Do I have a router that is compatible for my business needs?

Most of the time, a Hosted PBX provider will sell you the appropriate network equipment. A router specifically will connect all your computers and other equipment to your internet connection.

A business grade router is the basic model you will need for this technology. Make sure the quality of a router is at the level you need for your demand. For example, a router under $50 will not be sufficient enough for an office with 10 IP Telephones.

Should I have a battery backup and Power-over-Ethernet (PoE)?

Having a Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) will save you from those power outages since this technology allows you to be powered using regular network cables instead of power adapters that are plugged into the wall.
