While most people know it simply as another hipster music festival featuring upcoming indie bands, SxSW has actually grown into a much broader multi-focus festival covering music, film, startups<strong> AND technology.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Focused on emerging tech, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sxsw.com\/interactive\">The SxSW Interactive Festival<\/a><\/span> is fast becoming a breeding ground for new IT ideas and creative innovation, with five whole days of in-depth presentations, panels, networking events and showcases. <strong>While this year\u2019s proceedings feature <a href=\"http:\/\/spiceworks.com\">Spiceworks<\/a>\u2019 CSO and co-founder Scott Abel<\/strong>, some noteworthy keynotes from previous conferences include Elon Musk, Ray Kurzweil and Mark Zuckerberg.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe you\u2019re still thinking: \u201cWhy would I bother checking out SxSW?\u201d My answer is: <em>why wouldn\u2019t you<\/em>?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aerocominc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Stever-Case-Pitcj-Teaser1.jpg\" rel='magnific'><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-8457 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aerocominc.com\/info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Stever-Case-Pitcj-Teaser1-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"Stever-Case-Pitcj-Teaser\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.aerocominc.com\/info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Stever-Case-Pitcj-Teaser1.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.aerocominc.com\/info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Stever-Case-Pitcj-Teaser1-250x141.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>I think it\u2019s safe to say that most of us in IT have caught the train by now of realizing the importance of being exposed to new technical ideas and ways of thinking. Instead of minions in lab coasts plugging boxes together, Sysadmins are now expected to be problem solvers with a global understanding of market places and social currents. In other words, the better we understand the culture involved in and around our business, the better we can serve users in that culture with IT.<\/p>\n<p>This is EXACTLY the kind of knowledge you\u2019ll pickup at SxSW; just take a look at a few of the topics that I\u2019m checking out this year:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/schedule.sxsw.com\/2015\/events\/event_IAP33260\">Battle Cry of the Sensible Startup<\/a>: <em>Are stress, hype and ego mandatory for startups?
