Service Providers have a lot in common with you."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aerocominc.com\/info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/itpro1.png\" rel='magnific'><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-8150 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aerocominc.com\/info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/itpro1.png\" alt=\"rp_itpro.png\" width=\"401\" height=\"271\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.aerocominc.com\/info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/itpro1.png 847w, https:\/\/www.aerocominc.com\/info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/itpro1-300x202.png 300w, https:\/\/www.aerocominc.com\/info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/itpro1-250x168.png 250w, https:\/\/www.aerocominc.com\/info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/itpro1-592x400.png 592w, https:\/\/www.aerocominc.com\/info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/itpro1-562x380.png 562w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 401px) 100vw, 401px\" \/><\/a>A couple months ago, we were quoting a few different providers for a client and they mozied on over to Yelp to read the reviews.\u00a0 Ouch.\u00a0 Once again, I found myself explaining why Yelp is not a good place to form your opinion on business service providers.<\/p>\n<p>People never stop and think\u2026 &#8220;Wow, my provider hasn\u2019t had an outage or glitch in 6 months\u2026 I think I\u2019ll go on over and post a raving review on Yelp!\u201d\u00a0 Nope.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 but if you have an issue with a service provider and you get a person in customer care that isn\u2019t very nice\u2026 Yelp and everyone around you is gonna hear about it.<\/p>\n<p>Now, as I\u2019m describing this kind of behavior, as an IT Professional within a company, does this hit a nerve?\u00a0 Not the outage \u2013 I know that brings up bad memories of bad providers\u2026 but what about how the person never notices when things are working well that the providers go unnoticed\u2026 until something bad happens and they are pounced on\u2026.\u00a0 Sound familiar?<\/p>\n<p>Yes, that\u2019s YOU, IT Folk!<\/p>\n<p>Nobody ever appreciates that the LAN has never gone down or that their data hasn\u2019t ever been lost (even when they lost their laptop), or that their VoIP phone worked perfectly when they plugged it in at home, etc., etc., etc.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026but \u2026 if the server is ever down for an hour\u2026 here come the complaints!<\/p>\n<p>If people only knew how many moving parts the IT Department is dealing with, they\u2019d appreciate how miraculous it is that everything usually works and works well sometimes for months and months on end without a glitch.\u00a0 That\u2019s actually an amazing feat!<\/p>\n<p>So I\u2019m gonna break the norm and take this opportunity to thank you people.\u00a0\u00a0 Both IT Departments and Service Providers.\u00a0 You guys are awesome and do a ton without much gratitude.\u00a0 You are both extremely unappreciated and it\u2019s time people stop and point out some of the great things you make possible.\u00a0 Like keeping my computer working to write this blog.\u00a0 Thanks!<\/p>\n<p>\u2026and IT Pros, next time a cloud or telecom service provider goes 6+ months without an outage, give them some love on <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.aerocominc.com\">AeroCom<\/a><\/span>! \u00a0Don\u2019t let a service provider with 40,000 customers only have 25 reviews on Yelp\u2026 all negative.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Author<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-9772 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aerocominc.com\/info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/mikesmith.png\" alt=\"mikesmith\" width=\"88\" height=\"131\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.aerocominc.com\/info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/mikesmith.png 181w, https:\/\/www.aerocominc.com\/info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/mikesmith-135x200.png 135w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 88px) 100vw, 88px\" \/><\/strong><br \/>\nMike Smith is the Founder and President of AeroCom and has been immersed\u00a0in the business telecom and cloud industry since 1999.
