Follow Mike\u00a0on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/mikesmithaerocom\/\" target=\"_blank\">LinkedIn<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MikeSmithsBrain\" target=\"_blank\">Twitter<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/community.spiceworks.com\/people\/mike-aerocominccom?source=navbar-subnav\" target=\"_blank\">SpiceWorks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Transcript<\/p>\n<p>If your company is looking at <a href=\"https:\/\/products.office.com\/en-us\/microsoft-teams\/voice-calling\" target=\"_blank\">Microsoft Teams for your phone system<\/a>, one of the questions you might have is, can we use our existing phone lines for our team&#8217;s phone system and not purchase the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoftteams\/calling-plan-landing-page\" target=\"_blank\">calling plan<\/a> from Microsoft?<\/p>\n<p>The answer to that is yes.<\/p>\n<p>You can use your existing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aerocominc.com\/info\/our-products\/access\/voice\/sip\/\" target=\"_blank\">SIP Trunks<\/a> or phone lines like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aerocominc.com\/info\/our-products\/access\/voice\/pri\/\" target=\"_blank\">PRI<\/a> or just <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aerocominc.com\/info\/our-products\/access\/voice\/pots\/\" target=\"_blank\">analog phone lines<\/a> or SIP Trunks for Teams&#8217; phone system and use that for your dial tone.<\/p>\n<p>However, you have to purchase your own <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Session_border_controller\" target=\"_blank\">SBC appliance<\/a> and have that onsite, and that&#8217;s what your phone lines or your SIP Trunks are going to plug into, and that&#8217;s how Teams is going to communicate with your phone lines or SIP Trunks. Managing your own SBC appliance onsite could involve a lot of tweaking when it comes to call quality when you first start using Teams&#8217; phone system. So you might want to think twice about whether or not you want to do that.<\/p>\n<p>In my opinion, it is much easier to just go through Microsoft for the calling plan, or even better, use a third party company who through direct routing can do all of your dial tone for you.
