His hardworking parents had immigrated from India and they made it very clear that failure was not an option. They emphasized academics and really wanted him and his sister to be either a doctor or engineer.<\/p>\n<p>Although neither of those options appealed to Kal, that upbringing would stay with him. And it played a large role in his very successful IT career. Kal is now the Senior Vice President and CTO for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patelco.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Patelco Credit Union<\/a>. Which is one of the largest credit unions in the United States. He&#8217;s also been an IT executive for major brands like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gap.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">GAP<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.levistrauss.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Levi Strauss<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/usa.visa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">VISA<\/a> to name just a few.<\/p>\n<p>We sat down with Kal in January to hear his inspiring story.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Growing up, did your parents hint at the type of career they&#8217;d like you to pursue?
